Ørsted is developing proposals to build a new solar farm on land located in the East Riding of Yorkshire

If approved, Kingfisher Solar Farm will have a generation capacity of 320 megawatts (MW) of sustainable, secure, and affordable electricity.

Kingfisher Solar Farm could power the equivalent of around 100,000 UK homes with clean, renewable energy.

The 320 MW solar farm will enhance the UK’s shift toward sustainable energy sources and contribute to the nation’s renewable energy goals.

Solar farms that have a capacity of 50 MW and above are classified as Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs). As Kingfisher falls into this classification, we will need to apply for a development consent order (DCO). This will be decided at the national level by the Secretary of State.

Randall Linfoot, Programme Manager

“Kingfisher Solar Farm will provide green energy for around 100,000 British households, making a significant contribution toward meeting the country’s ambitious plans to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050”
